Iranian Embassy and running

There are times when I think those two blogs are too shallow. It may seem like I'm a shallow shallow running mom, only interested in my kids, running and the shape of my feet. It's not that I'm not interested in the world, I just think others do a much better job of reporting on current events.

I read about Iran and the election like everyone else. And since the Iranian embassy is located in close proximity to one of my favorite runs, I'm aware that police have intensified security as a result of heated rallies in the past week. I now wonder if one can run there, like I usually do.

And like Anders does too. One day when he was out running right by the embassy, nature called and he had to pick up the phone. Hunching in the bushes, he couldn't help thinking that the Iranians must have documented him -  a fit 30-something male hiding in the leafy surroundings of their important headquarters.

The Iranians have shots of Anders's ass. We're pretty sure of it. The consquences of running can never be predicted.

went for a run today, before dinner. It was so hot, uncomfortably so. The run was not very nice, sweaty, forced, rather short and a lot of work. It wasn't even fast, considering all the effort. But it felt good afterwards.

My first competitions

On Tuesday, I'll be running together with Anders in the dorky "Couple" challenge in Hagaparken in Stockholm. It's a 5 km track that a couple run, but in opposite directions so we can high five each other on the way.

Maja and her man Martin will also be running. Afterwards, we're heading for their apartment, to shower and have dinner. I'll post dorky pics along the way.

Have also registered myself and runwithe runners Clara, Maja and Karin for Tjejmilen. We're the Buns of Steel team. Tjejmilen is August 30th. All Swedish female readers should run too! And those of you who're not running the Tjejmilen are welcome to run 10 kms on August 30th. I'm aiming for under the hour. My regular 10 km time is somewhere round 56 minutes, but I fear the massive group of women all around will slow down the pace. Though hopefully adding to joy!

I so feel like going running today but left all gear at home. Did you ever go running in your jeans?

ps. That image is from Tjejmilens homepage. Not only do we need to run, but we also need to learn how to braid our arms.

In the office, working and thinking about how I'm lagging behind my goal. I'm 5,8 kms behind. That's an easy distance to cover. Must finish up what I'm doing to go running. are you going running today? How far? where to? wearing what?

English? Swedish?

Any reason to keep writing in English? Eller ska jag gå över till svenska?
If you want me to keep writing in English, please comment to say you do.

News I've been waiting for

Svenska flicka

Jag och flera andra runwithe:are springer Tjejmilen i år.
Gör det du med!

Dear Nike+ site people

Your site could  use a lot of improvement. I'm willing to help, fly me up to Oregon. And while you're at it, check your facts. Fartlek is a Swedish word.  Fart means speed. Visitors can't refrain from laughing when they see our speed signs. Max fart 40km/h.

If you haven't figured out

Haven't figured out how to see your individual standing in team challenges?

A year of running

So it's been a year and I'm doing what we in Sweden call an utvärdering. An annual evaluation. An analysis.

So far I've logged 182 runs, 750.08 kms. Many runs were lost. Lost before they made it to nike+ somehow stored in my body.

I think I weigh more than I did when I started. But I'm slimmer and stronger if that's important to anyone.
That's not why I started. I was out to have more energy and to be alone.

There were many best runs. Many terrible ones.

I recommend getting great gear.Going for a run when there's time for it.

Things I wished I'd known when I started:
It was harder for me to break the 1k wall than the 10 k wall.
The first km of every run is the hardest.

Current goal: to run 5 kms under 25 mins. To run 10 k round 52 mins.
To make daughter less afraid of seeing me in fleecelined pants.

You're so fast

Chocolate killed the competition. Nuts and fruit didn't stand a chance. This time, pick your superpower of choice and run with it. It's first team to 200 kms. Challenge starts June 3rd whatever Nike+ says.
